A wedding at the Leela palace Udaipur is always guaranteed to be a stunning experience. If there is one city in India that is truely romantic it is Udaipur and no matter how many weddings I attend in this city on the lakes, I always manage to see it differently and be amazed again. It almost seems like the city was planned for destination weddings. There are some stunning locations there and The Leela Palace hotel overlooking the city palace and lake Pichola is certainly up there on the list of incredible locations.
Sapna and Rishi’s wedding in Udaipur was a simple Sikh wedding at the local gurudwara but the celebrations, the mehendi and sangeet as well the receptions were centred around the Leela Palace hotel and the Maharaja palace of Jag Mandir in the center of the lake. I thought it was a good balance of simplicity with grandeur that made this wedding so unique and beautiful.

Living in Singapore Sapna’s favourite hang-out place is a Bollywood-style dance club called The Rupee Room located at Clarke Quay. It might sound a bit funny to come all the way to India and miss your Indian dance club in Singapore, but Sapna’s dad thought this might actually happen. To make sure that everything is in order and that the party can take place in both locations at once without having to move at the speed of light, a replica of the famous club was built at the hotel as a surprise for Sapna, and was this a surprise! The party went on till late but we had to come back there for the couple shoot on the last night on our way to reception. It took some time to set up the lights, the fog machine and the atmosphere, not to mention turning on the AC so that we don’t die, but I think it was worth the effort.
Congratulations Sapna and Rishi. It was a blast!
